A crowd of 20,145 watched QPR keeper Ron Green produce a string of fine saves until late goals from Ki Sung-Yueng and Wayne Routledge gave the Swans all 3 points.9 years ago on 2 December 2006 – A 3-1 win at Darlington saw the Swans progress to the FA Cup 3rd Round. The Swans goalscorers that day were Leon Britton, Andy Robinson and Adebayo Akinfenwa, whilst French left-back Sylvain Meslien made his Swans debut after impressing Kenny Jackett during a two week trial with the club.
15 years ago on 2 December 2000 – The bottom of the table Swans were held to a goalless draw at the Vetch by Bristol Rovers in Nationwide Football League Division Two. The 5,563 crowd did however see the Swans keep their first clean sheet in 8 games!
18 years ago on 2 December 1997 – Jonathan Coates scored for Alan Cork’s Swans in a 1-1 draw against Rotherham United in Nationwide Football League Division Three in front of a Vetch Field crowd of 2,463.
20 years ago on 2 December 1995 – A Vetch Field crowd of 1,788 watched Rotherham United hold the Swans to a goalless draw in Endsleigh Insurance League Division Two.
22 years ago on 2 December 1993 – The Swans won 2-1 in their Allbright Bitter Welsh Cup 3rd Round Replay against Merthyr Tydfil at Penydarren Park thanks to goals from Darren Perrett and Jason Bowen.
26 years ago on 2 December 1989 – Scottish striker Paul Chalmers made his debut for the Swans in a goaless draw with Blackpool at the Vetch Field in Barclays League Division Three.
29 years ago on 2 December 1986 – Torquay United’s lowest ever attendance of 601, watched the Swans draw 0-0 with their Today League Division Four rivals in the Freight Rover Trophy Premliminary round.
34 years ago on 2 December 1981 – John Toshack’s Swans beat Stafford Rangers 4-0 away in the Welsh Cup 3rd Round. A crowd of 3,077 watched as Alan Curtis, Max Thompson and Bob Latchford goals, along with a Harris own goal for the Alliance Premier side, helped the Swans comfortably into the Fourth Round.
37 years ago on 2 December 1978 – Goals from Phil Boersma, John Toshack (2) and Jeremy Charles earned the Swans a 4-2 win over Sheffield Wednesday at the Vetch Field in the Football League Third Division. The 10,000 crowd saw the Swans consolidate their 2nd placed position in the league table.
41 years ago on 2 December 1974 – Kettering Town dumped the Fourth Division Swans out of the FA Cup 3-1, in this 1st Round replay at the Vetch Field. Wyndham Evans scored the Swans only goal of the game.
