The 6ft 3″ striker, known as Borja and sometimes nicknamed Bastón (real name is Borja González Tomás), was on loan to SD Eibar in La Liga last season and managed to find the net 18 times in 36 appearances before returning to the Vicente Calderon.
However it is seemingly well know to those at Aleti that Diego Pablo Simeone doesn’t see Borja fitting into his plans and his happy for the 23 year old to leave. It is thought that the Spanish giants would accept a fee in the region of 7 million euros for the third highest scoring Spaniard in La Liga last season.
However, only last week the striker sustained a broken forearm in training after a freak accident with an harness band, and is likely to be out for several weeks. The injury was operated on within hours of the accident and the player is now resting back at home. Whether or not his injury will have an impact on any potential suitors remains to be seen.
Although reports in the British press yesterday seemed to suggest the Swans had already tabled a bid for the striker but as of yet those rumours can’t be confirmed.
