Swansea survival odds look good with two games remaining

Swansea’s final two games look promising on paper and the chances of survival look good ahead of the Premier League clash against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.

With Middlesbrough’s fate sealed following the 3-0 defeat to Chelsea on Monday night, it’s a straight battle between Swans, Hull and Crystal Palace to determine the final relegation slot. Palace, on 38 points, need one more win to guarantee survival and may already have enough points on the board as they sit four clear of 18th-placed Hull.

The two sides meet at Selhurst Park at the weekend where the home side can seal their fate while it’s a must win game for the visitors who entertain Tottenham on the final day of the season.

The bookies appear convinced Hull have missed their chance to remain in the top flight for another season, offering best price 2/9 for the drop. They rate Swansea 11/2 to go down and 18/1 Palace.

Clement will be hopeful of results against Sunderland and West Brom in the remaining fixtures and Swansea supporters can get 2/11 for their team to stay up.

Those odds offer very little reward for the risk and a better option is matched betting for a guaranteed profit from bookmakers.

The Black Cats are already relegated to the Championship next season but will look to bow out on a positive note in the final home game of the season.

Manager David Moyes has come in for scathing criticism from some quarters of the Stadium of Light and he, and his players, will not want to take the customary lap of appreciation on the back of another losing performance.

It seemed the pressure has lifted from Sunderland, who played with more freedom in the 2-0 victory at KC Stadium last Saturday, delivering a huge blow to Hull City’s survival hopes.

The Wearsiders did Paul Clement’s men a huge favour and the heroic performance against Everton at the Liberty Stadium later that afternoon lifted Swansea above Hull and out of the bottom three with just two games remaining.

Swansea are unbeaten in the last four visits to Sunderland, taking an equal share of the points on three occasions and winning 3-1 on the final day of the 2013-14 season. Swans also have good record at home against West Brom, winning four of the last five meetings at the Liberty.

West Brom knew they were safe for another year when defeating Arsenal 3-1 at the Hawthorns in March and have taken their feet of the gas ever since.

Two draws and four defeats in six subsequent games suggests the Baggies may not be giving 100% and Swansea will hope they can capitalise if it comes down to a decider on the final day of the season
