The discontent amongst the fans will never go away when lies after lies are said by our owners and Jenkins, so what do you expect. Gone are the days when fans were thrilled at free transfer signings are made from even top clubs like PSG, Liverpool and Real Madrid, a sad indication at the state of youth football, not only at our club but top ones as well. I sincerely hope that Dhanda or Govea can make our first team but the cynical side of me tells me that if they were any good not only would the clubs not release them, but other PL clubs with established youth recruitment would snap them up before little old Swansea. Hopefully they could be late developers and surprise us all.
With every player in the first team squad available for transfer quite a few of them could well have left the club by the time we play Sheffield United and with that match in mind I have no doubts that is why GP has been looking closely at the quality of the U23 squad with no doubt a view that at least 3 of them could well be in the starting line-up or in the matchday squad.
Quite a staggering thought when one digests it, but it does give one, if one never new, the huge task facing GP.
I cant see Nordfeldt being in the squad as he would only just have returned from his holidays should Sweden lose to England. Mulder has experience and he will get the nod while the though of us being linked with Joe Hart really doubled me up. In defence, Amat, Fernandez, Bartley could well be gone, while Mawson is missing through injury. In midfield Clucus and Fer are injured, while Narsingh, Ayew could be gone, Montero as well, while if the right amount of cash is put on the table for McBurnie, he could well be off.
What are the odds on the likes of Harries, Rodon, Lewis, Maric, James and Byers being in the squad for the first game of the season. Not quite the same scenario when Tosh's side were relegated to Division Two and players were offloaded for a fraction of their value, but up from the Football Combination team up stepped the likes of Gale, Pascoe, Saunders, Loveridge, McQuillan, Morgan, Lake, Holtham, Cottey. Happy days!!
