The stats are clear - we lost our creative flair when Clement took over, not at the start of this season. Siggurdsson’s dead ball skills and Llorente’s goal poaching masked the fact that we had become a dead-eyed zombie of a club under Clement.
I think people should remember the circumstances under which Siggurdsson left and the damage it did to our ability to budget for the next season and recruit the players we needed.
Gylffi Siggurdsson May 2017: “I'm not trying to leave, I'm not desperate to go or anything.” (Direct quote)
Gylffi Siggurdsson July 2017: So desperate to join Everton he refuses to board a plane for the pre-season tour or train with the his squad-mates.
Gylffi Siggurdsson August 2017: “I’m not going to lie, it was difficult mentally at times.” (Quoted in the Guardian.)
No Gylffi, lying is precisely what you did.
