Financial Fair Play

So, after Chelsea being held to account - no transfers this summer, and star man Hazard heading out of the door. Man City are soon to be in the dock.

And it looks very serious, and going to be VERY messy - not the Lionel one they covert.

A ban from the Champions League looms.

  • They should be hitting these teams with points deductions not financial penalties which they just pay off.
Interesting line on the Champions league ban...but money talks in football & the powers that be wouldn't like it if City weren't in the tournament

Even if City are proved to be guilty the sentence they will receive might not be until the 2021/22 season, how crazy is that. Until then all City will do is hoover up the best talent in the world and carry on winning.

"It was unclear if such a ban, if levied, would be enforced next season or in the 2020-21 campaign, the Times said, noting that with qualifying for Europe's most prestigious and lucrative club championship set to start in June there is little time to finalize a sanction."

but the ban will not be players, but participation in the Champions League.

A way different ball game. Players and Manager will think twice about coming/staying if that ban comes into place.

The reason for the delay is probably down to the fact that they tournament organisation for the forthcoming season will need to be in place before they can finish the investigation - and deal with any appeal.
  • It'll be ironic if the Villa go up and then get a ban as a PL club, they sailed close to the wind in the Championship, a number of other championship clubs have cheated too.
