a huge turnover of players is not great though, Colin.
Refreshing the squad is always needed. Not just to improve it playing-wise, but psychologically too.
But loose that many from the squad is less than ideal, even if necessary.
Plus, while you say Scott should be able to find these players? Well that is a hell of a lot of work. Besides finding the gems needed - we cant have a team of Bidwells. And then there is the contracts to sort, and the agents fees on top. They will cost, even if they come on a free.
Mark,
we have 17 players under contract for next season and hopefully the likes of Cam and Jack Evans, plus Oli Cooper will be added to that list, and possibly a pro contract for promising keeper Lewis Webb. Taking everything into consideration it's not that daunting a task especially if Routledge and Naughton get new deals.
Looked through the Championship and the following players who we could be interested in are out of contract next May according to Transfermkt.
Wigan-Dunkley(CB),
Barnsley-Mowatt(CM)
Luton-Stech(G/K)
Derby-Hamer(G/K), Forsyth(M)
Charlton-Sarr(CB), Solly(FB), Taylor(F)
Brum-Camp(G/K)
QPR-Hall(CB), Amos(D), Scowen(M), Wells(F)
Hull-Stewart(CM), Henriksen(M), Irvine(WM), Grosicki(W)
Millwall-Bialkowski(G/K), Steele(G/K), Cooper(CB), Jed Wallace(CM)
Bristol City-Maenpaa(g/k), Wright(D)
Loan players returning to clubs-Woodman, Wilmot, Surridge, Kalulu.
