  • Webmaster,

We have played Stevenage three times, the one missing from Gwyn's stats is the FA Cup 2nd Round at the Vetch Field when we beat the Conference team 2-1. Prior to the game there had been some disrespectful comments from the Stevenage manager Westley about the Swans that resulted in no communication between the two managers.

In the LDV match the previous season a virus at the Vetch Field saw Swans travel to the Conference club with just 14 players.(5 subs were allowed)

    The U23 team that lost 5-0 in the Checkatrade Cup tie - Benda(Gould-86), Dulca M, Lewis J, Davies K, Blake M, Evans Cam, Blair R, De Boer-(Garrick-61), Paulet S, Cooper O-(Price T-90), Biabi B. Subs not used-Bevan R, Jones J, Gudjohnsen A, Wynter-Coles S

  • This will be a fascinating selection for Cooper. You can bet on fringe selections like Benda Gyokores Palmer Dhanda Routledge - but I don't know what he will do re the defence and wing backs - they all need to be either protected or rested.

All the loan players might not be allowed to get "cup tied" well, which might further rule out MGW and Guehi.

If we were to select some of the guest bookers to make up the numbers... in defence I would go for uncompromising characters like @Pablo or @garythenotrashcougar to do a marking job and maybe someone like @Colin_swansea or @Mark_Jack_London to bring the ball out.

Thinking about it communication is essential to good defending so I think one of @Pablo or @garythenotrashcougar will have to start from the bench ๐Ÿ˜Ž

  • Thanks for the info Colin ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ

There are different Head to Head articles for games played at the Vetch Field/Liberty and for those played away from home - hence why the Vetch game is not listed ๐Ÿ˜€

  • We are going to have some 'emergency' loan signings to complement the team and Andrew2 would no doubt provide some 'bite' in midfield, Pontyjack will bore his marker to death with his repeated chat while Cadleigh will no doubt dribble his way through 90 minutes!!

  • I'm not a betting man but if I was I still wouldn't put money on those. Benda and Dhanda, hopefully. Not sure about the loanees and with a week's rest before and after he may well stick with his regulars. If Gibbs-White was going to be recalled it would have happened by now, no worries about him being cup tied, surely.

  • @Jackareme

Who would captain that team ? Who would be strong enough of character to lead that lot ?

  • @deekay we already have some fantastic leadership with our esteemed moderator - does a ton of work "off the ball" and might be able to keep @Andrew2 from picking up unnecessary red cards!!

  • I think he's been with the stiffs for too long.

    Malc
  • More likely to be too much viagra, but only the mod could verify that

  • Didn't want to start a new thread - just something in passing that made me chuckle Jurgen Klopp: Liverpool boss says 'other teams would get a penalty' at Southampton - BBC Sport

Wow these big clubs get ALL the marginal calls don't they? Klopp needs to have walked a decade in the shoes of a Swans fan trying to compete with these behemoth clubs.

  • If I offer to play would I qualify for the viagra??

  • do you have high blood pressure, Moorlands - a common ailment for Swans fans?

If yes, no viagra for you!

  • I keep digressing - but hoping the following for Thomas Frank and Brentford.

A thorough "chasing" that will physically shatter the players

A few twanged hamstrings, calves or thighs that will weaken them for the next 10 games

A demoralising defeat that wipes the smile off the little smug tw@t

Multiple red cards for players - further stretching the squad.

Happy New Year to the bees - and to think I used to quite like them!

    Rhydian
  • Well they are 1 down v spurs so relax mun๐Ÿ˜ƒ

    Jackareme
  • Aw Shucks๐Ÿ˜

Then my boots are at the cobblers for a new set of studs.

  • 2-0 spurs now and a red card for brentford, time for you to crack open some of jackraven's shiraz ๐Ÿ˜‚

  • I have a nice bottle of Canadian rye to finish off post Christmas. I will toast the demise of Brentford.

Could have done with a few more injuries TBH

  • @Jackareme

I'll join you in a toast with my Shiraz, 'Here's to Thomas Frank and Brentford being toast.'

  • Guess the team for Saturday anybody?

    I'm going for Benda - Connor - Cam Evans - Ben C - Ryan/ Fulton - Byers - Dhanda/ Cullen -Gyokeres - Garrick( assume Brandon is cuptied

  • I wouldn't have Connor in there. He needs a rest. Routledge as a wing back anyone ? ๐Ÿ˜€

    JackRaven
  • Derby might be forced to play their u23s in their cup game due to covid in the first team. Manager and all.

  • I think SC mentioned in the press conference that he would be putting a strong team out for the cup tie v Stevenage. With Bennett and Joel out for 3/4 weeks would it be a gamble to play Cabango and Guehi, also with Brandon Cooper cup-tied, it would give Cam Evans a start, especially when you consider he has been on the bench the last couple of games.

Should Jack Evans be given an opportunity as holding midfielder while up front Cullen and Garrick need to be given their opportunity up front. Cam and Jack as well as Garrick are out of contract at the end of the season and with a tough game at Barnsley to follow at least there would be some respite for key players.

    Benda,

    Naughton, Cam Evans, Bidwell,

    Roberts, Jack Evans, Grimes, Manning,

    Dhanda,

    Cullen, Garrick

Subs – Webb(g/k), O Cooper, Cabango, Guehi, Fulton, K Smith, Routledge, Lowe, Ayew

  • @Colin_swansea

Absolutely agree that Jack Evans should be given an opportunity. I can't understand why he was completely overlooked last season.

I said in an earlier post, albeit a little tongue in cheek, that Routledge could feature as the right wing back and I think that's a genuine option in the circumstances. I feel it's essential that Connor is given a rest, especially as we have another extended Sat-midweek- Sat schedule looming followed by a ridiculous international break where Giggs will no doubt have no interest in his welfare or our league position.

Interestingly, I see you have no place for Gyokeres ?

    Jackareme
  • deekay,

with the probability of him returning to Brighton why take the opportunity off Cullen or Garrick to play in the cup tie?

Forgot Routledge's ability to play right wing back, swop him for Roberts

    Jackareme
  • @Colin_swansea

I was thinking of a place on the bench for Gyokeres instead of Lowe or Ayew, again, just to give them a break.

I also forgot that Byers is now supposedly fit and could be utilised.

  • I'm going

    Benda

    Naughton , Cabango , Bidwell , Manning

    Fulton , Smith ,

    Dhanda

    Cullen , Garrick ,

    Big guns on the bench

  • Pretty confident there Malc, starting the game with 10๐Ÿ˜ƒ

    JackaremeFyldeJackMark_Jack_LondonSeaJack
  • Cheers guys forgot to put Routledge in lol

  • The games I've seen Routledge play as a wingback he's been like a fish out of water.

Should definitely play, but not as wingback
