  • this could be a banana skin game and we need TOTAL concentration and hopefully come away with 3 points and another clean sheet to help the goal difference

the last 2 games have been a revelation and long may it continue well done one and all keep building the pressure on Watford and you never know could still be there, but we MUST win

Well done lads keep up the renewed energy and commitment only 5 cup finals to go

  • complacency would kill us. Wycombe beat Preston recently. who we lost to recently.

but I cant see complacency being an issue.

I just wonder how fresh that starting 11 are for the weekend, after too tough away games.

My worry in particular are over Routledge who played another 70+ mins.

our 30-somethings, Ayew, Bennett and Kyle have all played 180 mins.

Hourihane, who looked spent before he was subbed, and should have come off earlier than he did, (as Wayne should have too), played 170 mins.

I think we could look at Bidwell and Connor starting.

I'd like to see him rotate midfield a bit too.

Key now, is to keep players fresh. Have all of the players desperate to start games, or make a difference when they come on.

  • My thoughts entirely @Mark_Jack_London. BUT if Bidwell starts he will have to at least try and play some football. Smith and Dhanda could easily slot into the midfield , and Whittaker should also get some mints - particularly if we get our noses in front.

  • Complacency should not occur from hereon in. These players surely realise what promotion to the promised land can bring most of them. Wins against both Wycombe and QPR and possible defeats for Watford in their next two games would certainly put the cat among the pigeons. Its probably unlikely to happen but at least go for it. Start on the front foot and see what happens

  • Surely a mint humbug has a stronger aroma when it's in front of your nose ? πŸ˜ƒ

  • All games in this league are tough and potential banana skins .

After 2 wins and good performances gives the boss a chance to give a few players a breather ,

    Joel for Bennett ,

    Bidwell for Manning

    Smith for Fulton

    Dhanda for Hourihane

Whittaker on at half time for Routledge

This will show the squad they all have a chance to gain some game time .

  • I can't see Whitaker starting.

More likely Cooper will use him as a tic-tac-al substitution.....

  • but when he comes on and scores, we'll all be singing for Trebor's a jolly good fellow

  • His uncle joe was good with a ball.....πŸ˜ƒ

  • I just hope he comes on Extra strong

  • One thing that we should be thinking of is getting Wayne Routledge onto the coaching badges. He is a natural for succession planning at the swans - and i am sure he would want his teams to play the right way.

What a servant for our club - and still looks a class above many on the pitch and most off the pitch. THANK YOU Wayne!

  • I can’t believe you’re all sucking in the prospect of whittacker starting

  • no@enaitch i just wanted him to get some minty minutes!

  • I wonder if one of old players , "the beast "

Adebayo Akinfenwa will be starting on Saturday.

  • Forget the mint with a hole. Poor defensively so I’ve heard.

  • Err wrong program @Webmaster ?

  • Someone tell me where we were with 5 games to go against Forest last year

  • We were 8 points behind with 5 matches to go last year. For the record it was

    5 games 8 pts

    4 games 5 pts

    3 and 2 games 6 pts

    The rest is self explanatory

  • Looks likes we're reverting to a back 3 today then. STID.

  • Shame for Bayo no fans to welcome him home. Was at Northampton when he got a good reception from us, he waved and looked pleased with our crowd.

  • Routs rested today, Looks like a 4-3-3 if Connor is playing right wing?!

So the start of the big 5 run in, well actually its 4+1 for reasons I'll go into.

We need 5 points to guarantee a play off place, that is our most likely possibility for the run in.

There is a remote possibility of auto promotion, but its complicated before so many teams have opportunities and teams will be playing rivals in the run in.

Basically we need to win our next 4 matches to be in with a chance, that is basically a pre-requiste (without both Watford and Brentford having a very dramatic disaster in the run in). We also need Norwich to win their next two matches Bournemouth and Watford to guarentee their Champions status, after that they may well fall off in performance.

Bournemouth losing gives us space and will make them very keen to get points of Brentford, which we need to happen. If Norwich beat Watford it will help us as we cant afford Watford to amass more than 7 points from the next 4 matches, or auto promotion is off the table. Only two wins from 4 would still give them the edge.

However if all that happens it will go down to us needing to win the final match against Watford, for them a draw will be good enough. This is the plus one match and it is the best we can reasonably hope for.

Other teams to play a big part in the run in are Millwall as they play so many of our rivals, and Barnsley who with the best run in have a chance of getting very close to auto themselves.

Norwich wins are key for us, and today we could do with Luton and Millwall wins. Ideally we need Reading out of the playoff chances before we play them, so their draw yesterday was helpful, so a draw by Coventry against Barnsley would stop them getting too claose but still keep Reading under pressure.

Its going to be a roll-a-coaster, with a win today vital.

  • Slightly worried we will miss Routs key catalyst role in the centre of the attacking three.

  • Off we go....

  • Ayew off injured
