Steven Benda joins Peterborough on loan

Swansea City goalkeeper Steven Benda has joined Peterborough United on loan for the remainder of the season, subject to international clearance.

The 23-year-old German has made seven appearances for the Swans so far this year, having made eight in total following on from his debut against Millwall during the 2020-21 campaign.

He links up with Darren Ferguson’s side as they look to retain their Championship status following promotion last season, although he will not be eligible to play when the Swans face Posh in March.

He makes the move in the wake of the arrival of Andy Fisher from MK Dons for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.

Benda – who is under contract until the summer of 2024 - joined the Swans from 1860 Munich in 2017, having been recommended to the club by former keeper Gerhard Tremmel.

Everyone at Swansea City wishes Steven every success during his time at London Road.

  • Good luck to him and I can't see him coming back.

Started the season our first choice but , in my view, got made a bit of a scapegoat for that early period where lots of passing errors were being made due to the new philosophy where he seemed to be under orders not to hoof it forward under any circumstances. He got dropped for Hamer who within one match was then given the licence to do just that from half time in one of the home matches. And now, with the acquisition of Fisher, he became 3rd choice.

He deserves a place as first choice somewhere and has shown at Swindon that he can do it. He needs to move for the sake of his career.

  • He made some fantastic saves in those games, as you say became a bit of a scapegoat. Hamer wasn't tested half as much in his early appearances, and that kept him the jersey as much as anything else.

  • Quite right Jasper-T

Hamer's first game against Hull was so easy for him , the Millwall game he didn't have much to do .
