[deleted] Last season Mr Clement made the most of a good fixture schedule starting with the Stoke game. arnautovic missed that penalty then take off. Apart from Man utd away almost all the fixtures were against cruising mid table sides Everton Stoke Wba Southampton Liecester I recollect. Also dead man Sunderland. This season no one-and-a-half relax apart from Everton and Burnley.
barry "Gracenote says that taking averages over five-year periods, the points needed for Premier League survival has dropped from 37 in 1996-2000, to 35 points now."Interesting.Top six getting stronger?
SpeakerJack Let's see at the end of the season what is enough. At this point it would a very brave manager who thought 38 points would be enough.
Mark_Jack_London 38 points seemed miles away a few weeks ago. Now it seems too close. If Gracenote have predicted right, then 3 wins to stay up from 11 games. that doesn't seem right to me either!
DubDragon I did the predictor thing on WOL yest... had us on 46 points and in 12th place... Newcastle Stoke and WBA to go down... I'll be more than happy with that!
Jacktar I don't totally buy teams being on a beach, every player is playing for a contract (new or longer) plus its worth £2m per place, and clubs pay decent bonus. OK, it'll hardly worry Alexis Sanches but it will bother players at teams in our three quarters of the table.
garythenotrashcougar 40 points is a myth borne of the very early Premier League era when there were 42 games a season. In most years since it became a 20 team league, 38 has been enough. I think that will be more than enough this season too.
