  • Summer Transfer Window 2021

Don’t tell me what I would do or say Pablo. You haven’t got a clue. I loved the entertainment of our previous style, giving the big teams a fright before finally being outplayed by better players. I cheered our team off the pitch for their bravery and spirit.

When we win 1-0 no with a dour defensive display and a midfield of head tennis I go home relieved but definitely not excited.

We are all allowed opinions Pablo, but we are not “wrong” if they do not align with yours.

Not “Cooper bashing” but negative or “anti-football” bashing. We all pay our season ticket fees but expect different levels of entertainment. I never again want to see the Swans setting up scared of the opposition at our level as we did against Brentford (the same as England set up against both Croatia and Italy.

I would rather lose gloriously and bravely rather than 2-1, having tried to defend a 2-0 lead for 80 minutes. I want entertainment with shots on goal, a fair share of possession and trying to play through midfield rather than launching the ball into touch or to 2 massive central defenders standing over Andre Ayew.

If Mancini set up the Swans with 3 full backs, 2 central defenders, 2 defensive midfielders, I would be just as critical. It is not aimed at Cooper but at the style of play.

The reality was that nobody expected us to win but everybody expected us to have a good go at it. I won’t get over the fact that we set up trying not to lose and then spent 90 minutes without a single effort on target. This is down to the manager.

Bad good season. The football has been dire but we have ground out results. We were never going to win today the way Cooper set us up from the start. The negativity was ingrained by the time we had to play football.

My main wish would be to have a back 4, pass and move and be more concerned with the way that we are going to approach a game rather than with the opposition. I can’t stand the way that Barnsley play but it is a hell of a lot more exciting than the turgid garbage that has been served up all season. I’m sure Barnsley would have had many shots on target today rather than the big NIL that we had.

Here’s to a new, and hopefully, exciting season.

Lee Trundle was clever tonight. He managed to deliver gentle criticism, repeating much of what had been recently said on this forum, but was very politically astute.

I’m so pleased to see the end of 5 at the back and a return to more progressive football with great result. Keep going!

  • Match Discussion: Blackburn Rovers v Swans - Championship 2020/21

In all of our recent games, there are at least a dozen times when the ball is in the air where the defender or midfielder has enough time to take the ball down and start a passage of play. Instead the ball is just headed as far forwards as possible only for the opposition to control it and come back at us. This is division 4 football.

Are our players incapable of controlling a football or is this what they are instructed to do?

We must get back to playing with the ball on the floor. Dhanda can then play a major role instead of hurting his neck looking upwards.

Dhanda in for Hourihane for me. Smith must play in central midfield, not up front. Smith can control the ball and play out.

Shout outs for Naughton, often underrated but always solid and professional; Fulton, still playing the “Swansea Way” and for Ayew - works his feckin socks off!

Great to be back in a crowd and the Jack Army were superb. Brilliant how they turned cheers for McBurnie into “w**nker, w**ker” after he’d been his normal irritating self!

I enjoyed the game. Probably much better in the stadium than on TV. The Swans outplayed Sheffield and will only get better and this will lead to goals. They were obviously a bit nervous in front of a home crowd but have settled and looked good.

Brandon Cooper had an excellent game, Matt Grimes always on the ball and Paterson and Flynn looked like proper Swans.

Overall very positive and I can’t wait for Tuesday.

8 man defence, defending a 1 goal lead, no positive subs until too late, long balls punted upfield, playing in white.Oh so painful to watch.

Cooper’s tactics after going one up are same as Paul Clement - cowardly. Sit back but don’t alter the team.

Awful second half, back to launching ball forwards to two small forwards who haven’t a chance. Nobody wants (allowed?) to bring ball under control. 2 wing backs in defence so no out ball.

This team is crying out for Korey Smith to bring some bite and urgency to midfield and allow Dhanda to play where he seems to be very influential. I’m afraid Hourihane is the one to be dropped because Grimes has been magnificent for a few games.

Very disappointing although I’m sure Pablo will think we were brilliant!
