Following on from this Wednesday’s coverage of the Cardiff Met v Swansea City game on Sgorio’s online channels, there’ll be another opportunity for Swansea City fans to follow the team, with the announcement that their Welsh Premier Women’s League away game against Cyncoed Ladies will be covered by BBC Radio Wales and Radio Cymru.
The fixture has been specially scheduled for 2:30pm on Saturday 24 April to coincide with the weekly sports programmes Chwaraeon Radio Cymru and Radio Wales Sport, with live reports coming from the University of South Wales Sport Park in Pontypridd.
It is the first time that a Tier 1 Women’s league match has been covered on the radio, reflecting the growing interest in the female game in Wales.
Having media partners helping to bring the action to audiences at home is more important than ever with fans currently unable to attend matches.
WPWL General Manager, Ianthe Mumford, said:
“The support the BBC has given the League over the last 12 months behind the scenes has been much appreciated and I’m really pleased that we’re now seeing the relationship in action. We know that fans are desperate to follow their teams and this new channel enables us to reach even more people.“
