Swans Under 23s to play in Professional Development League

The Swans Under 23s got their 2020/21 Premier League Professional Development League campaign off to a flying start with a 5-1 victory over Cardiff City at Landore.

Goals from Daniel Williams, Kristoffer Peterson, Jordon Garrick, Ali Al-Hamadi and Cameron Evans, gave Jon Grey’s side the perfect start to the season at this level.

With the Swans deciding to downgrade their Academy in a cost-cutting exercise, the club’s Under 23s and Under 18s will now play in the Premier League Professional Development League.

The Professional Development League brings together 18 Under-23 sides from Category Two Academies in two regional divisions, North and South, before a national play-off for the honour of being overall champions.

There is no promotion or relegation within the Professional Development League structure.

The competition is one academy tier below Premier League 2, which is where the Swans Under 23s used to play.
