Whilst the Official Swansea City end of season awards were wrapped up by Gylfi Sigurdsson and Fernando Llorente last Wednesday evening, we were busily awaiting the outcome of the final Man of the Match award of the season against West Bromwich Albion over the weekend.
Regulars to the SCFC2 website will know that every game we ask for people to vote for their Man of the Match, which given the season the Swans (and the Jack Army) have endured this term, has been a bone of contention with many of our fans!
Given the emotion of the last 6 weeks or so, it is probably fairly easy to forget the contribution made by certain players at, shall we say, the more painful (embarrassing?) part of the season under Messrs Guidolin and Bradley.
With this in mind, the recipient of the SCFC2 2016-2017 Swansea City Player of the Year might come as a bit of a surprise to some of you… Łukasz Fabiański.

Many Congratulations Lukasz – Gratulacje Łukasz na byciu gracza roku
The popular 32 year old, was voted as your Man of the Match on eight occasions during the season, impressing in the games against Burnley (a), Leicester City (a), Southampton (a), Spurs (h & a), Bournemouth (a), West Ham (a) and Watford (a).
When you consider that the Swans conceded 70 goals during a turbulent season, it speaks volumes about how bad that tally could have been were it not for the experienced Polish International goalkeeper.
Honourable mentions must also go to runners up, Leon Britton who claimed 6 Swans Man of the Match awards and Gylfi Sigurdsson who got 5.
But we’ll leave the last word to the man himself, as we couldn’t have put it better ourselves.
Fans,
Thanks for your support, without you it would be nothing! 👏 pic.twitter.com/5IsRFq10Hu— Łukasz Fabiański (@LukaszFabianski) May 21, 2017
We look forward to seeing the Big Pole in our goal next season and adding to his 111 Swansea City appearances to date.
