Which Premier League player loves to score at the Liberty Stadium?

With the Swans having a break from Premier League action this weekend, thanks to an 4th Round FA Cup tie at League Two Notts County, we thought we’d share some interesting stats with you.

Using Opta data, the good folk at SIS Pitches has compiled a list of the top home and away scorers at each top flight stadium, gathered since the formation of the Premier League in 1992, right up to the very last day of 2017.

Now you can probably name the Swans player who has scored the most Premier League goals at the Liberty during this time or at least have a very good guess.

But just in case you are unsure, it’s Wilfried Bony with 16 goals. The Ivorian striker was just ahead of Michu and Gylfi Sigurdsson, both of whom scored 12 goals.

But which opposing Premier League players like to score at the Liberty Stadium do you think?

You’d probably say someone like Sergio Agüero, who heads heads up the ranks at Stoke’s Bet365 Stadium and Watford’s Vicarage Road, or maybe former England striker Wayne Rooney, who is the top away scorer at the Etihad Stadium and St James’ Park.

It will probably come as no surprise to hear that with almost 400 appearances for Manchester United that Wayne Rooney has been the most prolific player at Old Trafford, with 101 goals – followed by Paul Scholes and Cristiano Ronaldo.

And if you had to guess who scored the same number of away goals at Vicarage Road as Alexis Sánchez, Harry Kane and Peter Crouch combined, who would you say? If you said Argentine international Sergio Agüero then you’d be spot on.

But as prolific as those two strikers are, the honour of being the away player whom most likes to score at the Liberty is actually shared between Papiss Demba Cissé, Jermain Defoe, Diego Costa and Christian Eriksen – all of whom have scored 4 times on their visit to SA1.

SISGrass, the latest hybrid pitch technology developed by SIS Pitches, is actually used at both St James Park and The Vitality Stadium, so the Opta data for these grounds were of particular interest to SISGrass director, Phil Blackwell – especially as they have been selected for six of the twelve 2018 World Cup venues, including the Luzhiniki Stadium in Moscow, the venue for the opening and final games of the tournament.

Of course with the 2nd half of the season now well underway these stats will certainly change, with new home scoring heroes and visiting villains to watch out for!
