Despite the Swansea City Ladies’ falling to a 2-0 defeat against rivals Cardiff Met last Sunday, a little bit of Welsh Premier Women’s League history was made by one of the Swans Ladies players.
29 year old, Ching-Hang Chun, became the first footballer from Hong Kong to play in the Welsh Premier Women’s League, when she came on to make her Swans Ladies debut in the second-half at the Cyncoed Campus.
Hong Kong international midfielder Chun, was recently signed by Swans Ladies manager Ian Owen, from Kowloon based Kitchee Sports Club who play in the Hong Kong Premier League.
She won the league title with her club last season and is looking forward to playing for the three-times Welsh Premier Women’s League champions.
Speaking to the Swans Official website last week, the 5ft 5ins midfielder said:
It’s a huge honour to be able to join Swansea. The opportunity to play overseas, especially for one of the top teams in Wales, is something that does not happen easily.”
