Martin gives his thoughts ahead of Terriers game

With the Swans having exited the EFL Cup on Wednesday evening against Premier League Brighton, Russell Martin and his team now turn their focus to the visit of Huddersfield Town this weekend.

The visit of the Terriers will prove a stern test for the Swans, with the Yorkshire side having won 3 of their last 5 Championship games, as they sit in 7th place in the league table.

As for the Swans, well they will be looking to return to winning ways having drawn their last 3 Championship matches.

Here is what Russell Martin had to say about this weekend’s game in his press conference.

Any Swans injuries?

The good news is that Martin will have a fully available squad to select from for the game having said – “Nothing major, nothing that’s going to affect our selection choice for tomorrow. Everyone comes through pretty much unscathed.”

Martin also said his players will need to be at their best every day if they want to feature regularly in the starting XI.

“It all matters, it is not just about how well you play on a Saturday, whether that is for 90 minutes, 60 minutes or whatever it is.”

Thoughts on taking the knee

“It means a lot to them so let’s not understate the importance of it. Whilst we’re still having players having to deal with this, it’s more important than ever that the guys do that.”

On Huddersfield

“They play with real intensity and aggression. It’s going to be interesting. They can vary their game and mix it up.

“We’re looking forward to it. We’ve worked on it and we’ve watched them. We want to put in a performance that builds on what we’ve done.”

Huddersfield Town boss Carlos Corberán had this to say about Russell Martin’s team during his press conference before his team left for Swansea.

“Swansea have changed a lot and I expect a totally different game to last season.

“We’ve seen them play some good games and we know they have not had a long time or a full pre-season with their new Head Coach, but are still getting to the level they want to achieve.”

Swansea fans will no doubt be looking for an improvement on last season’s results against the Terriers, when the Swans lost at home 2-1 before being hammered 4-1 at The John Smith’s Stadium.
