Former Swansea City forward Stephen Dobbie has announced his retirement from playing football at the age of 39.
The popular Scot decided to hang up his boots having been released by AFC Fylde, where he had spent the 2021-2022 season.
During his time at the club, Dobbie coached Fylde’s Under-18 side and he fully intends to pursue a career in coaching, now he has decided to call time on his playing career.
Dobbie announced his retirement, through his wife’s twitter account.
Dobbie scored 14 goals in 67 appearances for the Swans during a three year stint at the club, after being signed from Queen of the South by Roberto Martinez in May 2009.
He will probably be best remembered for his 40th minute goal in Play-Off Final win over Reading at Wembley, help securing the Swans promotion to the Premier League.
