Martin: I take responsibility for result

Swansea City surrendered a two goal cushion in injury time as Millwall grabbed a last gasp point at the Swansea dot com stadium.

The Swans flew out of the blocks in the Championship encounter with the Lions, as Ryan Manning opened the scoring inside the opening minute, before Michael Obafemi quickly doubled the lead after 12 minutes, with his first goal of the new season.

However, with a first home league win of the season in their sights, two own goals in two injury minutes from Ben Cabango and Nathan Wood, handed Millwall a share of the spoilts, whilst leaving the home side and the 16,068 crowd wondering what had just happened.

To make matters worse for the Swans, defender Joel Latibeaudiere is likely to face a lengthy spell on the sidelines after dislocating his shoulder in the first half, following a hefty challenge from Millwall’s Murray Wallace.

Martin said after the game – “We were so pleased with so much of the performance, but it is inexcusable that last three or four minutes, and I take responsibility for that, I am in charge of the mentality of the team.”

“It really hurts at the moment, but you cannot throw away a 2-0 lead with four minutes to go. It’s not a fair result, we should be out of sight. But it’s our job to take responsibility and help the players through it.”
