All of the Swans loanees played for their respective League One clubs on Tuesday evening.
Jordan Garrick replaced Tashan Oakley-Boothe for his first start for Lincoln City in their game at Oxford United. It didn’t take the youngster long to make an impact as he helped set up the Imps opening goal on 21 minutes, before being substituted on 82 minutes.
Fellow Swans loanee, Kyle Joseph came off the bench for the U’s on 60 minutes, but was unable to make an impact for the home side, as Lincoln went on to win 2-1 at the Kassam Stadium.
Morgan Whittaker was another Swansea City loanee who made his first start, featuring for Plymouth Argyle in their visit to Charlton Athletic.
Despite the Pilgrims being on the end of a 5-1 hammering, Whittaker did provide some cheer for Argyle with a super solo effort on 71 minutes. The young striker brilliantly weaved his way through the Addicks defence before firing a tremendous low finish into the bottom corner from around 20 yards.
Plymouth manager Steven Schumacher had this to say on Whittaker’s performance – “We know he has got quality. He still needs to make quicker decisions at times and pass it every now and again, but he has shown the ability he has got by taking a few players on and smashing one in from outside the box.
“I’m pleased for him that he is off the mark, off and running, and it will give him a bit of confidence.”
The Plymouth Herald newspaper gave Whittaker the ‘Star Man’ award for his performance, saying “Things certainly did not always go his way He had one good chance in the first half which was well saved and some of his touches let him down. He kept going, though, despite the adversity that Argyle had to contend with and scored the first goal of his loan spell from Swansea City with an excellent low finish from outside the box.”
