Woolmer to referee Swans visit to Birmingham

Northamptonshire referee Andy Woolmer will officiate Swansea City’s game at Birmingham City on the weekend.

It will be the second time that the experienced official will have been in charge of a Swansea game this season, the previous one being the Swans win at Blackpool.

Assisting Woolmer for the game at St. Andrew’s will be George Byrne and Matthew McGrath, with Ben Toner the 4th Official.

Why not have a look at the previous Swans results when Andy Woolmer has been the referee. His record for Swans away games makes for mixed reading, with Swansea City winning just 2 games out of a possible 6.

Andy Woolmer EFL Championship Record

This will be the fifth EFL Championship game that Woolmer has taken charge of so far during the 2022-2023 season.

He has handed out 15 yellow cards, no red cards and awarded just one penalty, which ironically was awarded to Blackpool when the played the Swans at Bloomfield Road.

The Jack Army will probably remember that Woolmer awarded the penalty, after Harry Darling was wrongly adjudged to have brought down the Tangerines Kenny Dougall, but thankfully Andy Fisher saved the spot kick.

The last Championship game Woolmer officiated was Wigan Athletic’s 1-1 draw with West Brom on 30 August 2022.
