Kyle Naughton poised to sign contract extension

According to reports, it appears that Kyle Naughton, the 34-year-old defender, is on the verge of securing a new one-year contract with Swansea City.

It was previously announced by the club last month that Naughton would be departing as his existing contract was set to expire this summer, but BBC Wales is reporting that Naughton is about to get a new contract.

However, the player has now reached an agreement on fresh terms, ensuring his presence at the Swansea.com Stadium for an additional 12 months. Naughton, who joined Swansea from Tottenham Hotspur in January 2015, has accumulated an impressive tally of 285 appearances for the club.

As a seasoned member of Swansea’s squad, Naughton featured in 26 matches during the previous season. He did however have limited game time during the last campaign, enjoying 16 starts and 9 substitute appearances for Russell Martin’s side.

Swansea City have since made an official statement on the club website saying that the 34 year old has signed a one year deal, which will see Naughton remain at the Swans until June 2024.
