Swansea City’s 2023-24 Championship campaign will kick off against Birmingham City at the Swansea.com Stadium on Saturday, 5th August.
This encounter will be the first time the two clubs meet on the opening day of the season. However, they have faced each other in August on several previous occasions, with the most recent being in 2019, where Swansea City emerged victorious with a commanding 3-0 win over Birmingham City in SA1.
It is worth noting that this fixture will only be the fourth time that Swansea City has played the opening game at home since the Swansea.com Stadium was inaugurated in 2005!
Following the season opener against Birmingham City, the Swans schedule includes fixtures away at West Bromwich Albion and then Coventry City at home. The August league schedule will be concluded with an away trip to face Preston North End.
Mark your calendars for the eagerly awaited south Wales derbies, which are scheduled for 16th September at the Cardiff City Stadium, with the return match taking place in SA1 on 16th March, when the Swans will look to build on the “Doube Doube”.
During the festive period, Swansea City will enjoy home advantage as they face Preston North End on Saturday, 23rd December, before embarking on an away fixture against Southampton at St Mary’s on Boxing Day and a reunion with former Swans boss Russell Martin. The year will end with an away fixture at Coventry City on 29th December, followed by a home match against West Bromwich Albion on 1st January to welcome the New Year.
Notably, Plymouth Argyle is a team the Swans have not faced in a league fixture for the longest period among the Championship newcomers. Their last league encounter was a 1-1 draw in February 2010. Swansea City will have an opportunity to renew the rivalry by visiting Home Park in October and hosting Plymouth Argyle in February.
The Easter weekend fixtures will see Swansea City travel to Sheffield Wednesday on Good Friday, followed by a home match against Queens Park Rangers on Easter Monday, providing fans with an exciting weekend of football.
Fans can anticipate some lengthy away trips during the season. Swansea City will face Sunderland, Middlesbrough, and Norwich City on 24th February, 6th April, and 27th April, respectively. Additionally, they will visit Ipswich Town on 11th November.
