Jerry Yates secured a crucial goal as Swansea City ground out a win over 10-man Rotherham United at the AESSEAL New York Stadium.
The Swans took the lead just before half time with a goal from Charlie Patino, capitalizing on the hosts being a man down after Daniel Ayala received two quick bookings from referee Josh Smith.
Despite controlling the game, Swansea faced an equalizer when Sam Nombe converted from a long throw just past the hour mark. However, the visitors clinched the three points as substitute Jerry Yates capitalized on a defensive error, finding the bottom corner.
In his first game in caretaker charge, Alan Sheehan orchestrated the win, with the Irishman, players, and staff celebrating the victory with the 495 traveling Jacks in attendance at Rotherham.
Sheehan made four changes from the previous draw with Huddersfield, giving Yannick Bolasie his first start for Swansea. Josh Key, Harry Darling, and Charlie Patino also entered the starting line-up, while Kyle Naughton, Bashir Humphreys, Liam Walsh, and Liam Cullen found themselves on the bench.
