Briton Ferry Llansawel Under 19s 0 Swansea City Under 18s 6 – Friendly

A convincing 6-0 win for our very young U18 side this evening against their Briton Ferry Llansawel U19 counterparts in the hazy sun at Old Road.

The hard work was accomplished in the first half, Jarred Harvey using the 2nd half to give opportunities to U16 players and without losing control of the match.

Line-up (4-4-2): Sam Seager; Billy Clarke, Kiel Higginson (s- Carter Heywood 60m), Brogan Popham (s – Riley Griffiths 60m), Callum Deacon (s – Elis Thomas 46m); Josh Pescatore (s – Bobo Evans 60m), Harlan Perry (s – Alfie Jones 60m), Milo Robinson (s – Popham 81m), Kai Rhodes; Aidan Higgins (s – Higginson 78m), Ramon Rees-Siso (s- Harvey Gray 46m).

There was some really fluent play by our youngsters and against a team that are no mugs. Excellent interplay led by Harlan Perry and Milo Robinson pulled the strings in the middle and Aidan Higgins was a very good foil leading the line with Ramon Rees-Siso. Ruthless finishing by Pescatore and Rees-Siso put us 4 to the good before Billy Clarke raced through onto a smart Perry pass to get a 5th just before half-time.

Harlan Perry, the standout performer, cracked a long distance shot against the crossbar early in the 2nd half, before Harvey rang the changes with a number of substitutions on the hour. Harvey Gray got the 6th when a misplaced defender’s pass allowed him to slot the ball home between the keeper’s legs. There was still time for Kiel Higginson and Brogan Popham to come back on before we closed the game with further near chances for Clarke and Bobo Evans.

A special mention for goalkeeper Sam Seager. A 6-0 away victory sounds like a cakewalk, but his saves at crucial times were really important, he has the demeanour of a really sound keeper.

Enjoyable and lively fare at an always welcome Old Road.
