12 years ago on 4th November 2003 – Southend United ended the Swans interest in the LDV Vans Trophy at the 2nd Round, with a 2-1 win at the Vetch Field in this Southern Section tie. The 2,055 crowd had little to cheer about apart from Daniel Nardiello’s 90th minute consolation goal.

18 years ago on 4th November 1997 – The Swans lost 2-0 to Hartlepool United at the Vetch Field in Nationwide League Division Three. Alan Cork’s side gave the 2,949 crowd little to cheer about as they remained in 20th place in the league table.
Some of the younger Swans fans may not know that Alan Cork is the father of Swans midfielder Jack Cork.
20 years ago on 4th November 1995 – Caretaker manager Bobby Smith saw his Swans team fall to a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of high-flying Wycombe Wanderers in this Endsleigh Insurance League Division Two game. Despite Steve Torpey giving the Swans a 58th minute lead, the 2,809 crowd went home disappointed.
26 years ago on 4th November 1989 – The Swans gained a useful point on the road with a goalless draw at Bolton Wanderers in Barclays League Division Three. The draw saw Ian Evan’s side keep their position of 11th in the league table.

The result meant that Terry Yorath’s Swans consolidated 2nd place in the Today League Division Four.
37 years ago on 4th November 1978 – Two goals in 5 minutes gave Gillingham a 2-0 victory over the Swans at the Priestfield Stadium in the Football League Third Division.
43 years ago on 4th November 1972 – Herbie Williams scored a brace and David Gwyther added another as the bottom of the table Swans eased to a 3-0 win over Notts County at the Vetch in the Football League Third Division.
