What’s the Kassam Stadium Like
Away fans are in the North stand of the three sided stadium; the stand is shared with home supporters, or if demand requires it, then the whole of this stand can be given to over 5,000 fans.
The facilities in the ground are excellent, as well as the view of the pitch, there’s plenty of leg-room. Alcohol is served along with burgers, hot dogs and pies
Visiting Oxford
There is quite a bit to do in and around Oxford and it is well worth making a weekend of it. Oxford has loads of hotels including the Holiday Inn Express, Mercure, Malmaison, Travelodge and many, many independent hotels.
Blenheim Palace (OX20 1PP) is set within 2000 acres of beautiful parkland in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds and is a great day out. Scenes from Harry Potter, Inspector Morse, Lewis, The Riot Club, Testament of Youth, The Golden Compass and more were filmed in Oxford.
The Covered Market (OX1 3DZ) opened in 1774 and has many different stalls including fresh fruit, coffee and bakeries as well as clothing and to a feast of sights and sounds.
Eating and Drinking near the Kassam Stadium
There aren’t many pubs or eateries around the ground; there’s a Holiday Inn Express on the corner behind the Oxford Mail and South Stand and has a big bar, is welcoming to football fans and has Sky TV; expect beer to be expensive.
Next to the stadium, ‘The Ozone’ is a cinema/ bowling complex with ‘Oxy Oriental’, an Oriental buffet restaurant. A small pub, ‘The George Inn’ (OX4 4PU) is a 10 minute walk away in Littlemore. It has Sky TV and serves pies and sausage rolls. You should be able to leave your car in the car park and walk to the stadium.
Another traditional pub, a 15-20 minutes walk from the stadium in Sandford-on-Thames is the ‘Catherine Wheel’ (OX4 4YP). It offers local real ales and cider, plus hot food snacks on matchdays. Alternatively head into the town centre, or stop en-route.
Parking near the Kassam Stadium
The stadium is well sign-posted from the main routes into Oxford, look for brown football signs. There are 1,600 free car parking spaces at the stadium, get there two hours before the game as there’s no street parking around the stadium.
At the stadium, ignore the first car park entrance and go up to the second entrance as the first will have you parking at the open end (danger of smashed windscreens from escaping ball).
There is a roundabout by the second entrance, which will take you back to the first entrance if the top half is full. Expect delays getting out of the car park after the game.
There are some free car park spaces are available at the Ozone complex.
Trains to Oxford
The nearest station is Oxford (OXF). If you arrive at Oxford Parkway (OXP) we suggest you take a connecting train to Oxford.
Oxford Station is approximately five miles from the stadium.
Buses run from Oxford Station with both the City5 and Stagecoach1 bus services running every 5 minutes to Sandy Lane West. The journey takes around 40 minutes and then it is a 15 minute walk to the stadium.
Taxis will take around 20 minutes to get to the ground from Oxford station and will usually cost around £15-£20.
Trains from Swansea High Street take 3 hours 15 minute, but you will need to change at Reading.
