What’s the black squiggle on the Swans new shirts?

The launch of the Swans new home and away kit for the 2018-19 season last week, was met with approval from the majority of the Jack Army, with the away shirt in particular proving to be extremely popular choice.

Fans who purchased the new shirts online or at the club shop last Friday, were left a little bemused however by a black squiggle which preceded the first letter on the name printing on the back of the shirt – prompting some fans to go on social media in search of an answer.

Well, after some initial mickey-taking responses about the mysterious squiggle, it transpires that it is actually a rather significant and meaningful logo for the UK based mental health charity Mind.

The charity aims to provide advice and support to help anyone experiencing a mental health problem, whilst also trying to raise awareness and promote understanding.

Unbeknown to probably most Swansea City fans, probably due to us being a Premier League side at the time, the EFL announced back in April that the Mind logo will appear on all EFL shirts as part of the new-style names and numbers being launched for the 2018/19 season.

So now you know what the black squiggle on the names and numbers of the Swans jerseys are, be sure to explain to fellow fans about them, whilst taking a moment to learn more about mental health issues.

Hopefully the Swans will also make an announcement soon about the Mind EFL campaign and help raise awareness amongst the Jack Army.
