This Saturday sees the mid-table Swans travel to Griffin Park to face 17th placed Brentford in the EFL Championship.
Swansea capped off a miserable week in their last game where they deservedly lost 2-1 to Derby County. This result was a third defeat in a week for the Swans and leaves them currently 13th in the table.
It was a difficult trio of fixtures for the Swans with Norwich, West Brom and Derby all currently sitting in the top seven teams in the table.
Nevertheless three defeats and eight goals conceded will have given Graham Potter plenty to work on at the training ground in restoring confidence to a young squad, whilst organising a team which had previously had an excellent defensive record at this level.
Brentford had made an excellent start to this season in the Championship and on the 15th September they were sitting 2nd in the table with pundits purring over their style of football and fans dreaming of a debut season in the Premier League.
Unfortunately for the Bees, those dreams have since turned into a nightmare with manager Dean Smith departing for Aston Villa and their side winning just one of their last fourteen games, which has seen them slide down to 17th in the table under new boss Thomas Frank.
Brentford did however get a creditable 1-1 draw in their last game against West Brom at the Hawthorns last Monday evening. West Brom should really have won the game comfortably as they missed a number of chances, but Brentford fans will hope this result will be the turning point in their season.

Brentford v Swans Match Predictions
It’s not something I like to do in my Swans articles, but in terms of First Goalscorer betting for this match, then the value for me lies in Brentford’s Neal Maupay to break the deadlock at 4/1 (5.00).
Maupay has been in excellent form this season with thirteen goals to his name already this term.
As a Swans fan I’m hoping that Swansea’s defence can be back to it’s best, but if we show the same defensive frailties as in recent games against the Bees, then I feel Maupay is a good bet – if you can bring yourself to bet against the Swans of course!
However, I don’t feel the Swans should write off their chances for the game this weekend.
Yes, it was a difficult week last week with three defeats, but Swansea have shown good football at numerous times this season and as I’ve already mentioned, Brentford are suffering from performance and confidence issues of their own at the moment.
There is value to be had in backing the draw at half time and the Swans to win at full time which is 83/10 (9.30) with Marathon Bet.
Swansea’s games away from home this season have only seen four first half goals in those ten matches and if Swansea’s defence can get back to the levels they showed earlier in the season, then it would be no surprise if the sides were level at the break.
Swansea are likely to use Jefferson Montero and Wilfried Bony from the bench in the second half, which would improve their attacking options and the odds on offer are good value IF the Swans are to pick up three points on Saturday.
Finally, I would recommend backing the Swans to win the game by a 1-0 scoreline.
Again, Swansea’s away games haven’t generally had many goals and the 14/1 (15.00) odds on offer with BetStars has value if Swansea can rediscover their defensive form.
Brentford have only kept one clean sheet in their last fourteen games, so Swansea can hopefully benefit from their opponent’s lack of confidence at the back and nick a tight game and edge themselves nearer the play-off places.
