Despite the recent poor run of results from the Swans, caretaker head coach Alan Sheehan and his Swansea City team were backed by a noisy following at Rotherham United this afternoon.
495 Jacks (including half a dozen elves) made the 446 mile round trip to the AESSEAL New York Stadium to cheer on their heroes, despite the expensive holiday season being just a couple of weeks away.
The travelling Jacks were in fine voice throughout the 90 mins and drew special praise from Alan Sheehan in his post-match press conference and goal scorer Jerry Yates, who said:
“I thought the fans were exceptional, they were really loud from the get-go and it was non-stop all game. We could hear them singing Yannick Bolasie’s song. It was nice to hear my song as well, that’s always a nice moment.
“But when the fans are loud and proud, it gives us a boost. They do the travelling, and they pay their hard-earned money to watch us, so we always make sure we say thank you.”
The next away day for the Swans faithful, is on Tuesday evening, when they face the seemingly usual midweek trip to Stoke City.
