Caretaker head coach Alan Sheehan acknowledged that Swansea City did not produce the desired performance at Stoke City, but he commended the resilience of his players in securing a hard-earned point.
The game at the bet365 Stadium saw little to differentiate between the two teams, with the Swans holding spells of possession but struggling to find fluency and a cutting edge in the final third.
Stoke appeared to be on track for a win when Daniel Johnson converted from the penalty spot after Harry Darling fouled Ryan Mmaee with 20 minutes remaining. However, Darling redeemed himself by heading home a pinpoint corner from Matt Grimes in the 89th minute, ensuring Swansea left with a share of the spoils.
Despite not achieving the desired level of performance, Sheehan highlighted the character of his players, securing four points from a possible six in his two away games at the helm as interim boss.
That said, the Irishman didn’t hold back in his assessment of the overall display, despite being pleased with the effort the Swans had put in.
“We’ve had an honest conversation with the players, and obviously it’s not the performance we wanted to put in by any means,” said Sheehan.

No doubt should Sheehan still be in the role of caretaker boss for the visit of Middlesbrough to the Swansea.com this weekend, he will be looking for a major improvement from his players.
