Head coach Luke Williams expressed disappointment as Swansea City concluded the 2023-24 season with a 1-0 loss to Millwall at the Swansea.com Stadium.
Despite dominating possession, Swansea couldn’t convert their chances, including a missed penalty by captain Matt Grimes and opportunities for Jamie Paterson and Ronald, as Casper De Norre capitalized on a defensive error to score the lone goal for the Lions and extend Millwall’s unbeaten run in Swansea to 3 games.
Williams lamented his side’s lack of accuracy, feeling they didn’t fully capitalize on their control of the game as their unbeaten streak ended on the season’s final day.
“That was not what we had in mind at all. I think we had control, but we did not create enough chances,” he said.
“We had too many errors that led to counter-attack chances for Millwall.
“In this type of game the first goal is always going to be really important, and unfortunately we missed the penalty and then it’s avoidable.
“We make a really silly action that led to their goal, so it’s disappointing.
“We made a decent start, we had a bit of a flurry but we did not kick on.
“We were aggressive in the lead-up to the penalty, but after that the game moved away from us.”
