Mason Burstow’s late strike earned Hull City a 2-1 victory over Swansea City at the MKM Stadium, with the Swans punished for a lackluster performance.
The substitute capitalized on a sloppy mistake in Swansea’s half, cutting infield and curling a shot into the far corner to seal the win.
Earlier, Harry Darling had headed Swansea level just before halftime, connecting with a Josh Tymon cross to cancel out Joao Pedro’s opener for Hull.
Both teams had chances to take control, with Ben Cabango’s header hitting the post for the Swans, while Hull also struck the woodwork.
Luke Williams had warned his players to expect a fired-up Hull side eager to impress new manager Ruben Selles, stressing the need to match their energy and work rate. However, Swansea’s sluggish start set the tone for a game where they never fully found their rhythm.
Williams made two changes to the team that lost to Sunderland, bringing in Jay Fulton and Jisung Eom for Gonçalo Franco and Ronald.
The Swans return to the Swansea.com stadium on Boxing Day, when Queens Park Rangers are the visitors.
