2 years ago in 2015 – The Swans moved up to 9th place in the Barclays Premier League thanks to Jonjo Shelvey’s stunning 25-yard strike at Southampton, as Garry Monk’s men ran out 1-0 winners at St Mary’s. In an impressive tactical performance, the Swans registered their first win in Southampton for 62 years and hand the Saints their first Premier League defeat in seven games.

Chico Flores head in hands3 years ago in 2014 – Two Kevin Nolan goals condemned the Swans to a 2-0 defeat at Upton Park against West Ham United in the Barclays Premier League. The Hammers eased their relegation worries and added to Swansea’s, whom slipped down to 12th but more significantly, just 2 points off the drop zone. The game wasn’t short of incided as Andy Caroll – who setup both goals for Nolan – was sent off after appearing to catch Chico Flores with his arm, with the Spaniard then going to ground clutching his face. It was to be Michael Laudrup’s last game in charge of the Swans as he was sacked just 3 days later.

6 years ago in 2011 – Third placed Swansea City eased to a 2-0 win against Bristol City in an nPower Football League Championship game at Ashton Gate. The 14,366 crowd watched the Swans dominate the game, as a goal in each half from Darren Pratley moved the Swans up a place in the league table, under the stewarship of Brendan Rodgers.

14 years ago in 2003 – The bottom of the table Swans drew 1-1 at 2nd placed Rushden and Diamonds in Nationwide Football League Division Three. With the game at Nene Park being broadcast live on Sky Sports, the Swans game an impressive performance that belitted their league position, as Kevin Nugent gave the Jacks the lead after just 15 minutes. Brian Flynn handed a debut to a certain Roberto Martinez.

25 years ago in 1992 – Jimmy Gilligan scored for the Swans at they lost 2-1 at 3rd placed Stoke City in front of a Barclays League Division Three crowd of 11,299. The defeat meant that Frank Burrow’s team remained in 15th place in the league table.

31 years ago in 1986 – The Swans lost 4-1 at Rotherham United in Canon League Division Three, as Roger Gibbins scored a 2nd half consolation goal for Tommy Hutchinson’s men in front of the 2,932 crowd.
