14 February 2008
The Swans drew 1-1 with Fulham in the E.ON FA Cup 5th Round at the Liberty Stadium. Despite the game being shown live on Sky Sports, a crowd of 16,573 saw Jason Scotland score a 2nd half equaliser to cancel out Garry Monk’s own goal on the stroke of half time. In truth, Roberto Martinez’s side should have been out of sight before the half-time whistle, such was their superiority against their Premier League opponents. Due to the live TV coverage, Paddy Power sponsored the Swans jerseys as a one-off.

14 February 2006
A crowd of 11,028 saw Leon Knight score in first half injury time as the Swans were held to a 1-1 draw with Bradford City at the Liberty Stadium in a Coca-Cola League One fixture. Kenny Jackett’s team were guilty of not taking their chances, missing out on a 3rd consecutive victory and a chance to move up from 4th place in the league.

14 February 2004
The Swans slipped to a narrow 2-1 defeat at Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup 5th Round. Andy Robinson had given Brian Flynn’s Third Division side the lead against their Second Division opponents, but a debatable penalty and a late red card for Alan Tate meant the Swans missed out on an lucrative FA Cup Quarter-Final appearance.

14 February 2001
Despite second half goals from Damian Lacey and Jason Price, the Swans lost 3-2 to Brentford at the Vetch Field in the LDV Vans Trophy Southern Section Semi-Final. Goalkeeper Carl Mounty made his debut for the Swans in an action packed game which saw Roger Freestone sent off after just 14 minutes. The 2,222 crowd saw a battling performance from John Hollin’s men but an 89th minute winner for Brentford dashed any hopes of an appearance in the final.

14 February 1998
A Swansea team managed by Alan Cork lost 1 nil to Peterborough United at the Vetch Field in Nationwide League Division Three. A crowd of just 3,737 saw the Swans drop to 21st place in the table.

14 February 1995
The Swans beat Porthmadog 8 nil in the Allbright Bitter Welsh Cup 5th Round at the Vetch Field. A crowd of 716 saw goals from Andy McFarlane (2), John Cornforth, Jason Bowen, Dai Thomas and a 13 minute 2nd half hat-trick from Martin Hayes. The North Walian Konica League side were managed by Mickey Thomas.

14 February 1989
Goals from Peter Bodak (2), Bryan Wade and Stewart Phillips gave the Swans a 4-1 win at Wrexham in the Welsh Cup 5th Round.

14 February 1987
An 87th minute winner from Colin Pascoe helped the 3rd placed Swans win 1 nil at top of the table Northampton Town in Today League Division Four. Terry Yorath’s men silenced the 8,288 crowd by not only stopping the Cobblers from scoring for the first time that season but also by taking their unbeaten home record.

14 February 1976
A goal in each half from Alan Curtis gave the Swans a 2-0 win at Torquay United in League Division Four. It was the first Swansea away win in almost a year, as Robbie James made his 100th appearance for the Swans.

Two former Swans actually celebrate their birthday on Valentine’s Day – Shaun Chapple (B: 1973) and Curtis Obeng (B: 1989) – so a very happy birthday to you both!
