9 years ago on 03 February 2007 – The Swans dropped out of the play-off places after a 2-1 defeat at lowly Cheltenham Town in Coca-Cola League One. A crowd of 5,221 saw Lee Trundle give the Swans a 17th minute lead, but a Cheltenham comeback meant the 1,800 strong Jack Army left Whaddon Road bitterly disappointed.

10 years ago on 03 February 2006 – Andy Robinson scored the only goal of the game as the Swans beat AFC Bournemouth 1-0 at the Liberty Stadium in Coca-Cola League One. The 12,079 crowd saw Kenny Jackett’s Swans move up to 2nd place in the table thanks to Robinson’s goal on the stroke of half-time.

15 years ago on 03 February 2001 – A first half red card for Michael Howard didn’t help the Swans cause as two goals in the dying minutes of the game saw Bristol City run out 3-1 winners over the Swans at Ashton Gate in Nationwide League Division Two. Llanelli product Stuart Roberts had given the 22nd placed Swans a 11th minute lead against play-off chasing Bristol to stun the 10,379 crowd.

20 years ago on 03 February 1996 – Two goals from Steve Torpey weren’t enough to save Jimmy Rimmer’s second from bottom Swans as they lost 3-2 at Chesterfield in Endsleigh Insurance League Division Two. Matters off the field were perhaps of more interest however as Michael Thompson had completed his takeover of the Swans and a new manager was imminent at the club.

27 years ago on 03 February 1989 – Tommy Hutchinson was given the role of caretaker manager as Terry Yorath decided to take over the manager’s job at Bradford City, so it was events off the field which overshadowed the Swans 1-1 draw against Bristol City at the Vetch Field in Barclays League Division Three.

The 6,523 crowd were grateful for a 87th minute equaliser from the penalty spot as Robbie James ensured the 3rd placed Swans earned a share of the spoils.

29 years ago on 03 February 1987 – A Vetch Field crowd of 8,853 witnessed the Swans getting knocked out of the FA Cup in the 4th Round by a goal to nil against Hull City, after Terry Yorath’s side were unable to take advantage of the 23rd minute sending off of Hull midfielder Bunn.

42 years ago on 03 February 1974 – The Swans lost 1-0 to Bradford City at the Vetch Field in the Football League Fourth Division. A crowd of 6,377 turned up to watch the 2nd game ever to be played at the Vetch Field on a Sunday.

43 years ago on 03 February 1973 – Goals from Herbie Williams and Geoff Thomas (penalty) gave the Swans a 2-1 win over Scunthorpe United in the Football League Third Division.

The crowd of 1,607 was the lowest league gate at the Vetch Field since the Swans joined the Football League in 1920.
