The Swansea City Under-21s beat Newport County 2-1 at Rodney Parade in a Checkatrade Trophy Group E – South section game. With the game being delayed due to traffic congestion on the M4, Cameron Toshack’s team were grateful for a Kenji Gorré strike and own goal from Newport defender Jay Foulston, to secure the win in front of the 750 crowd.

The Swans won 2-1 at reigning League of Wales Champions TNS in the Welsh Premier Cup. A goal in each half from Jonathan Coates and Kristian O’Leary was enough to secure the win for John Hollins’ side.

Frank Burrows Swans played out a goalless draw with Exeter City at the Vetch Field in a Barclays League Division Two game. The 4,439 crowd were left disappointed by the 5th placed Swans being unable to break down their 21st placed opponents, as the home team extended their unbeaten run to seven games.

A second-half penalty from defender Chris Harrison and a late Joe Allon goal were enough to secure all three points for the Swans in a Barclays League Division Four Welsh derby against Wrexham at the Vetch Field. A crowd of just 3,741 were present to witness Terry Yorath’s lowly Swans beat their mid-table opponents.

The Swans in their inaugural season in the First Division, claimed the scalp of Arsenal at the Vetch Field, as goals in each half from Leighton James and Max Thompson gave Toshack’s men a memorable 2 nil win in front of the 20,600 crowd. In fact, Thompson’s stunning volley even featured on Match of the Day’s Goal of the Month for October in the 1981/82 season.

Fan favourite Lee Trundle was born on Sunday, 10 October 1976. After signing for the Swans in July 2003, the striker went on to score 91 goals in 194 appearances for the club, whilst entertaining fans with some outrageous skills and tricks along the way.
