The Official Swansea City Quiz Book Review

Swansea City Quiz Book Volume 1Do you know who captained Swansea City in their first ever Barclays Premier League game? Now whether you know the answer to that question or not, you’ll be intrigued to hear that the first ever official quiz book about the Swans has just been released and it is sure to test the knowledge of even the most ardent Swansea City fan.

“The Official Swansea City Quiz Book” is written by lifelong Swans fan David Brayley – the author who gave us the excellent books on former Swans and Glamorgan cricket star Tony Cottey and more recently current Swans and Wales captain Ashley Williams.

The book takes the format of 75 Swansea City related quizzes – with each quiz containing 10 questions – covering the club’s 102 year history and includes almost every conceivable Swans related category you could imagine.

From one season wonders to European campaigns, the south Wales derby to THAT Hull game, you’ll find plenty of different topics covered and even some picture quizzes for those who prefer a visual test of their Swans knowledge.

You’ll even find quizzes on John Toshack and modern day fans favourite Leon Britton – much to my delight!

Each quiz is supplemented by some related facts, which makes for great reading and actually helps to enhance the readers’ knowledge of the Swans – not just testing it!

Having supported the Swans for over 34 years, the book really provided a challenge to what I thought was my extensive knowledge of the Swans…. this theory was quickly blown out of the water! I simply couldn’t put the book down it kept enticing me to do just one more quiz.

The other thing that stands out when trying the quiz book – which spans over 150 pages – is that a huge amount of research and fact finding has gone into its making. It really does appear that practically no Swans related stone has been left unturned!

There really is something for every member of the Jack Army in this book, so whether you’ve supported the Swans for 5 years or 50 years, are aged 15 or 55, it really doesn’t matter as you’ll have lots of fun doing each quiz and learning even more about our beloved Swans.

“The Official Swansea City Quiz Book” is available exclusively from the Swans Superstore now and from Gomer Press and other leading book retailers from 7th July.

Priced at £6.99 it is exceptional value and will provide an ideal gift for any Swans fan not to mention an extremely useful companion for those long away days following the Swans, when you can challenge your friends’ knowledge of the boys in black and white.

It’s worth mentioning that this is Volume 1 of the book – so there is likely to be a Volume 2 in the not too distant future. Well at least that is what I’m hoping for anyway!

And to answer my question at the beginning of the review, the answer was Alan Tate, but you knew that didn’t you?
