Swans make Breakfast TV in South Africa

April 2, 2015 by Swans Info

Swans Academy in South AfricaIf anyone was ever in any doubt that Swansea City Football Club is now a global brand then live appearances on national TV in countries such as South Africa reinforce that message.

The Swans Under-19 team were in South Africa this week to feature in the Metropolitan Under-19 Premier Cup in what is its 27th year of competition.

The 32 team tournament at Erica Park – which kicked off on Wednesday – sees the leading Under-19s teams from South Africa in action, including three time South African Premier League Champions Kaiser Chiefs and six time Metropolitan Cup winners Ajax Cape Town.

The Swans and Southampton will be representing the Premier League during the tournament along with some guest teams from Zambia.

You can keep up to date with the Swans progress in the tournament by following the Swans Academy on Twitter.

As part of the visit to South Africa, some of the Swans Academy coaching staff spent time doing coaching workshops in the local communities of Cape Town. They were even invited to appear on the ‘Expresso Morning Show’ – which is the leading breakfast tv show in South Africa and is shown to over 5 million viewers on a daily basis!

Here are the clips from the show which feature Eric Ramsay (Swans Under-21s Coach), Andrew Sparkes (Swans Under-21s Goalkeeper Coach / Head of Academy Goalkeeping) and Nia Davies (Girls Regional Coordinator / Under-9s Coach) from the Swans Academy.

Who’d have thought that little old Swansea City would feature across the world nearly 12 years after almost going out of the football league!
