A difficult month in September was followed by an equally testing October, with the Swans inconsistent form still on show, with a useful point at home against Spurs followed by an early Halloween horror show in the 1 nil defeat at home to Stoke City – which saw the media go into meltdown over Garry Monk’s managerial position.
Thankfully the 2-1 win at Villa Park stopped the media circus and kept the doom merchants quiet, well it did until the harsh 3 nil defeat to Arsenal at the Liberty!
Perhaps it is somewhat ironic then that the player whom has accumulated the most Man of the Match votes during October, was one of the players singled out for being “out-of-form” and “not the same player as last season” – the iceman himself, Gylfi Sigurdsson.
His stunning free-kick against Aston Villa was a welcome sight, not just for the club but the man himself, and we are delighted to give the SCFC2 Swans Player of the Month for October 2015 award to Gylfi Sigurdsson.
During the four Premier League games in October, Gylfi got 33% of all votes cast, followed by Andre Ayew with 12% and England International Jonjo Shelvey with 12%.
Swans gaffer Garry Monk is also happy the Icelandic international is back to his best after hinting at his recent downturn in form in September:
I’m glad he got that goal. He’s been close in recent games and a lot has been talked about his contribution to the side and goals. Gylfi deserved that.”
The Iceman is no stranger to scoring with stunning free-kicks, so sit back and enjoy seven of his best strikes…
