Martin Davies
Former Bishopston schoolboy Davies, had a playing career that saw him at Coventry City for three years (without playing a first team game) before leaving to play for Third Division Cambridge United in 1995.

The following season, he left to play for Rushden & Diamonds, before re-joining Cambridge in 2008 as part of the youth development scheme.

Over time, he progressed through the ranks and ended up with a full-time role within the Academy and then First Team, being instrumental in the development a number of young goalkeepers within the U’s Academy.

His time with the Cambridge also saw him become a key member of the clubs coaching staff which achieved promotion back to the Football League in 2014.

42 year old Davies received high praise indeed from U’s CEO Jez George who said:

Martin is a fantastic man of the highest integrity, an incredible work ethic, eye for detail and desire to teach.

He has a huge contribution to the development of Will Norris over the last four years and we thank him for his overall contribution during his time with the club. Whilst we are disappointed to lose him, Martin leaves us with our sincere best wishes to pursue a role at Swansea City.”

Martin Davies also has a LinkedIn profile which details his career to date.

Thanks to regular SCFC2 Guestbook contributors Bab and Colin-Swansea for the initial heads-up about the appointment.
