October date set for Swans Ladies UEFA Champions League Draw

Following an UEFA meeting earlier this week regarding the 2020/21 Women’s Champions League, Swansea City Ladies will now find out their qualifying round opponents in October.

The draw for the tournament was originally due to take place earlier this month, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic and a re-structuring of the tournament, the draw was delayed.

The Swans Ladies who claimed their place as Wales’ only representative in the tournament, after being crowned Welsh Premier Women’s League Champions back in May, now have to wait until noon on 22 October 2020 to find out their First Round Qualifying opponents.

Unlike previous seasons, where qualifying teams would play in mini-groups, with the top team progressing to the second qualifying round, the 2020-21 UEFA Women’s Champions League, will see qualifying round games played as single-legged ties.

The prospect of the Swans Ladies potentially entertaining a European based club at their Llandarcy Academy of Sport home, is both exciting and potentially lucrative.
