South Wales derby double header weekend

The South Wales derby is arguably one of the most fierce in British football, but this weekend, it takes on another twist with a double header!

On Saturday lunchtime (12:30), Neil Harris’ resurgent Bluebirds entertain Steve Cooper’s fourth placed Swans, in what is sure to be an intriguing Championship encounter, regardless of the bitter rivalry between the clubs.

Whilst on Sunday, the unbeaten Swansea City Ladies travel to Leckwith Stadium (2pm) to take on Cardiff City FC Women in the Welsh Premier Women’s League Cup.

Thus far this season, various Swans teams have enjoyed playing against the Bluebirds, with the Under 23s hammering their counterparts 5-1 at Landore in the Professional Development League, the Under 18s winning 3-1 and the Ladies winning 3-0 in front of Sgorio cameras in the Welsh Premier Women’s League.

Steve Cooper’s men were on the cusp of creating South Wales derby history last season, after the 1 nil win at the Liberty, but fell just short of securing the first ever derby double, after the goalless draw at Cardiff City Stadium.

It is a shame that fans are unable to attend the games this weekend, but even without the Jack Army being present, lets hope the Swans prevail once again.
