Obafemi shortlisted for Championship Player of the Month

Swansea City’s in-form striker Michael Obafemi has been shortlisted for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month award for March.

Obafemi, who signed for the Swans from Southampton for an undisclosed fee on transfer deadline day last August, has hit form over recent weeks, scoring 6 goals in March – including a brace in the south Wales derby.

It completes a dramatic turn around in fortunes for the 21 year old Irishman, who didn’t enjoy the best of starts in SA1, with Swans manager Russell Martin saying that Obafemi must be “Patient” back in October.

The other players shortlisted for the March award are Luton Town’s James Bree, Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke, and Nottingham Forest’s Djed Spence.

The winner will be decided by a judging panel comprising of Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman, EFL communications director Mark Rowan and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.

The winner will be announced on Friday, 8 April.
