Former Swansea City legend Angel Rangel has been appointed the Head Coach of Pontardawe Town Academy Under 12s side for next season.
The popular Spaniard, who retired from professional football in April 2021 at the age of 38, made 373 appearances for the Swans over a 11 year period. Not bad for someone Roberto Martinez signed in 2007, from lower league Spanish side Terrassa for less than £20k.
He will always be fondly remembered by the Jack Army for his energetic and passionate displays at right-back for the Swans.
Although this is a now role for Rangel, he is no stranger to the FAW Academy League, having helped the Pontardawe Academy Under 12s side in last season with some coaching duties, whilst enjoying watching his son play for the team.
It is quite a scoop for the Swansea valley club, who’s senior team gained promotion to JD Cymru South, having been crowned Ardal South West champions earlier this month.
As you can imagine, the club were delighted to announce Rangel’s appointment.
