Even though the Swans game at Reading was moved from Boxing Day due to Sky TV live coverage, it didn’t stop the Jack Army travelling in large numbers to Berkshire for the early evening kick-off.
Just over 1,940 Swansea fans made the trip to the Select Car Leasing Stadium for the Championship clash with the Royals.
The game was briefly halted minutes before half-time, as Swansea players made the referee James Linington aware of a situation in the away end where a Swansea fan had collapsed.
Several stewards and medical staff attended to the supporter in the away end, before the supporter was carried out of the stands on a stretcher by the emergency services after the game had re-started. Reports on Sky Sports said that the supporter had “fainted” and that the supporter was “fine” after the incident.
Sadly for those that did make the 300 mile round trip, the Swans fell to a 2-1 defeat, with a second half goal from Liam Cullen the only positive for Swans faithful.
It rounded off a miserable afternoon for the Jack Army, as many were late arriving to the game due to the congestion on the M4.
The Swans next away game is an FA Cup Third Road tie at Ashton Gate on Sunday, 8 January 2023, when the Russell Martin’s team take on fellow Championship side Bristol City.
