Martin: “Four points from two tough away games is a good return”

Swansea City managed to secure a 1-1 draw at Queens Park Rangers this afternoon after an indifferent performance at Loftus Road.

With two former Swans in the QPR starting line-up it was inevitable that one of them should opening the scoring against their former side, as Jamal Lowe finished well on 27 minutes to give the hosts the lead.

Thankfully the Swans rallied after the introduction of Luke Cundle and Olivier Ntcham, as Jay Fulton’s 81st minute strike secured a point for the Swans.

Speaking after the match, Russell Martin said:

We concede a really poor goal, it’s a disappointing goal to concede, there’s too big a distance between the back four in our own box.

Even more disappointing was the mentality of the team after that. We went a bit timid, passive and slow. There was a bit too much disappointment from conceding the goal.

The subs who came on were excellent, Luke Cundle and Olivier [Ntcham]. Andrew Fisher made a big save, albeit from our mistake.

We haven’t actually been penetrated too much by one of the best attacking forces in the league so there is that bit of frustration.

It’s a long answer, but the short answer is I’m pleased with a lot of it and a bit frustrated by some of it.

But four points from two tough away games is a good return.

The near 2,300 travelling Jacks were superb throughout the game and got the reward their loud vocal backing deserved with a point on the road.
