Here is an image slideshow from the Under 18 Professional Development League game between Swansea City and Cardiff City at the Swansea City Academy in Landore on Saturday, 25 February 2023.
The young Swans who are currently bottom of the Professional Development League South table welcomed third place Cardiff City to Landore for this south Wales derby, which was watched by Swans boss Russell Martin.
The Bluebirds made a bright start to the game but it was the Swans who took the lead through Josh Carey on 30 minutes. The home side’s lead didn’t last long, as two goals in the space of six minutes from Japhet Matondo and Tanatswa Nyakuhwa gave the visitors the lead going into the interval.
The Swans pushed hard for the equaliser and were guilty of not taking the opportunity to shoot when the opportunity arose, and they were made to pay for this as Tanatswa Nyakuhwa scored twice to complete his hat-trick and give the Bluebirds all three points in a 4-1 win for the visitors.
