Donohue to referee Swans v Terriers clash

Matthew Donohue will be the official in charge of the Swans Championship fixture against Neil Warnock’s Huddersfield Town this weekend.

The Lancashire based referee will be assisted by Paul Hodskinson and Richard Wild, with Sunny Singh Gill the 4th Official for the game at the Swansea.com stadium.

This will be the third time that Donohue has officiated a Swansea City match this season and all of the games have been against Yorkshire sides!

Donohue was the man in the middle for the Swans opening day draw at Rotherham United back in July 2022 and the 3-0 defeat at Sheffield United back in February.

Overall Matthew Donohue’s record for Swansea City games makes for mixed reading, with this being his 5th Swans home game of his career to date.

Matt Donohue EFL Championship Record 2022/2023

Prior to Saturday’s game, Donohue has officiated 26 Championship games so far this season, showing 98 yellow cards and 3 red cards.

The official averages almost 4 yellow cards per game and has already booked 5 different Swansea City players so far this season – Ben Cabango, Jay Fulton, Matty Sorinola, Nathan Wood and Joel Piroe.

This will be the fourth time that Donohue has officiated a Huddersfield Town game this season, the other games being the 4-0 defeat at Burnley, the 2-1 home defeat against Luton and the 3-1 win over Stoke at home back in August 2022.
